Centre for United Nations Constitutional Research, Greece

"A 'World’s First' in Climate Law: A Case Study of the UK’s Climate Change Act 2008"

Presentation delivered to the Center for United Nations Constitutional Research, at its conference entitled "International Environmental Laws and Climate Change: Is there Global Climate Justice?", Epirus, Greece.  Other speakers included a range of Europe’s leading climate scholars and practitioners, including Professor Jan Pronk, who served three terms as the Dutch Minister for Environment.  Paper delivered on the afternoon of Wednesday 19th.  Also served as co-chair for another discussion over the course of the conference.

Speaker and panel discussant at the launch of the Grantham Institute policy report 10 Years of the UK Climate Change Act, London School of Economics, 24th April 2018;  the other three panel members were Prof Sam Fankhauser (Director, Grantham Institute), Chris Stark (Director of Secretariat, Committee on Climate Change), Fiona Harvey (environmental correspondent, The Guardian newspaper).

Speaker at the 30 Years of Energy Law gathering at The Hague, the Netherlands; 23rd January 2019.  Also made visits to the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice as a CEPMLP delegate.

“An Evaluation of the Implications of EU Climate and Energy Governance for UK Renewables in Light of Brexit”

Speaker at the "Renewables After Brexit" conference day bringing together professionals and experts from the renewables industry, hosted at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (Dundee University), Dundee (Scotland), 1st December 2017; spoke on the subject of renewable energy, and participated in a discussion panel made up of industry and scholarly experts.  Other speakers included The Rt. Hon. Alex Salmond, former First Minister of Scotland (2007-2014).

Presentation delivered to faculty and staff at the University of the West Indies, Friday 5th March 2021, 3–4:30pm (UK time), followed by a roundtable discussion with Prof John Agard, Co-Char of the UN’s 2023 Global Sustainable Development Report team, Dr Hugh Sealy, Vice-Chair of the Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board (UNFCCC), Dr Emily Dick-Ford, former Minister for Planning (Trinidad and Tobago), and several others.
